Avril_Lavigne_Let_Go cover albumLet Go is the debut album by Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne, released on June 4, 2002. For a year after signing a record deal with Arista, Lavigne struggled due to conflicts in musical direction. Lavigne relocated to Los Angeles, California, and recorded there her earlier materials for the album, the kind of sound of which the label was not amenable. She was paired to the production team The Matrix, who understood her vision for the album.

The album is credited as the biggest pop debut of 2002, a successful launch of Lavigne's career attributed to her management's marketing strategy. It was released to generally positive critical reviews, although Lavigne's songwriting received some negative comments. Let Go sold well in the United States, becoming the third top-selling album of 2002. It also performed well in Canada, receiving a diamond certification from the Canadian Recording Industry Association, as well as reaching multi-platinum in many countries. As of May 2008, Let Go had sold over 16 million copies worldwide and is Lavigne's most successful album to date.

Get Born also has a song, "Timothy," dedicated to guitarist Cameron Muncey's brother, who died when he was a baby. The track "Radio Song" was written about when they were an unsigned band in Melbourne seeking attention, and "Rollover DJ" was written about the difficulty they encountered when trying to play gigs because of the takeover of dance music.

The title of the album, "Get Born" comes from a line in Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues".

Collective_Soul_-_Hints,_Allegations,_and_Things_Left_Unsaid coverHints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid is the debut album of Atlanta rock band Collective Soul. It was first released on a small indie label in Atlanta, called Rising Storm Records. This version included an additional track not on the Atlantic version, an orchestral ballad titled "Beautiful World". The album attracted attention to the band and they signed on with Atlantic Records and re-released the album in 1994 under the Atlantic label.

Green Day Warning imageWarning is the sixth full length album by Green Day, released in 2000. Building upon predecessor Nimrod, Warning eschews their trademark punk rock sound and incorporated acoustic elements. Warning was also the first Green Day album that was not produced by Rob Cavallo since Kerplunk, although he did have a hand in its production and was credited as Executive Producer.

Warning reached number four on the Billboard charts and went gold. Despite its high critical response, it represented the lowest commercial success in the band's career since their first album. It is also the only Green Day album, apart from the debut, not to go platinum.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers

Red Hot Chilli Peppers imageRed Hot Chili Peppers are a four-piece Grammy Award-winning American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1983. For most of the band's existence, the members have been vocalist Anthony Kiedis, guitarist John Frusciante, bassist Michael "Flea" Balzary, and drummer Chad Smith. The band's varied musical style has fused traditional rock and funk with various elements of punk rock, and psychedelic rock.

In addition to Kiedis and Flea, the group originally featured guitarist Hillel Slovak and drummer Jack Irons. Slovak, however, died of a heroin overdose in 1988, resulting in Irons' departure.[1] Irons was replaced briefly by former Dead Kennedys drummer D. H. Peligro before the band found a permanent replacement in Smith, while Slovak was replaced by up-and-coming guitarist Frusciante. This lineup recorded the band's fourth and fifth albums, Mother's Milk (1989) and Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991).

Blood Sugar Sex Magik became an extremely significant record for the band; it thrust them into mainstream success with over thirteen million copies sold. Frusciante grew uncomfortable with this new found success and left abruptly in the middle of the tour for the album in 1992, descending into heroin addiction. Kiedis, Flea, and Smith employed Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction for their subsequent album, One Hot Minute (1995). Although fairly successful, it did not match the critical acclaim of Blood Sugar Sex Magik and sold less than half the copies of its predecessor. Shortly afterwards, Navarro departed the band due to creative differences.

Frusciante, fresh out of drug rehabilitation, rejoined the band in 1998, at Flea's request. The reunited quartet returned to the studio to record Californication (1999), which went on to sell fifteen million units worldwide, becoming their most successful album to date. It was followed three years later with By the Way (2002), which continued their success. In 2006, the group released the double album Stadium Arcadium, giving them their first American number 1 album. The band has won seven Grammy Awards. They've sold over fifty million albums worldwide, have eight singles in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 (including three singles in the Top 10), have five #1 singles on the Mainstream Rock charts, and hold a record of eleven #1 singles on the Modern Rock charts. In 2009 the band will become eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Third Eye Blind

Third Eye Blind imageThird Eye Blind (sometimes abbreviated 3eb) is an American alternative rock band formed in the early 1990s in San Francisco. The band's current line-up is Stephan Jenkins (vocals, guitar), Brad Hargreaves (drums, percussion), and Tony Fredianelli (guitar, vocals). Original bassist Arion Salazar has not been playing with the band, and his future as part of the band is unclear. It is reported on the band's Facebook page that he is able to return whenever he wishes, as there is an "open door policy" for him. Abe Millet, of Inviolet Row, has been filling in for Salazar during recent concerts.

After the success of their eponymous debut album in 1997, the band released one more album, 1999's Blue, before guitarist Kevin Cadogan was released under controversial circumstances.[1] In 2003, the band released Out of the Vein. In 2008 the band released the digital EP Red Star.

Smoothed Out Slappy Hours1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is a collection of early recordings by American punk rock band Green Day, released in 1991. Although it is often referred to as the group's first album, this is not factually correct. Their first album was 39/Smooth, whereas 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours includes that album in its entirety as well as two complete EPs and a track from a previous compilation album.

The album included one cover, "Knowledge", which was originally by influential California punk band Operation Ivy.

Kerplunk.jpgKerplunk is the second full-length album by punk rock band Green Day. It was released on January 17, 1992 on Lookout! Records. Kerplunk was their last release on an independent label and was also the first album to feature their current band lineup, with Tré Cool on drums. The album went on to become one of the bestselling independent albums ever, selling 10,000 units on the day of its release.[citation needed] Major labels took notice of Kerplunk's phenomenal popularity and many approached the band. Green Day realized that they had outgrown their record distribution capacity with Lookout! and eventually signed with Reprise Records. With Reprise, Green Day would record and release their third album Dookie (1994), which would become a landmark album of the 1990s with over 14 million units sold in the U.S. alone. In December 2007, Blender magazine ranked Kerplunk #47 on their list, "The 100 Greatest Indie-Rock Albums Ever".

The album officially includes only 12 tracks, but the versions released on CD and cassette also include the 4 tracks from the Sweet Children EP. One of those 4 tracks is a cover of The Who's "My Generation". Another notable track on the album is "Welcome to Paradise", which the band would re-record for their next album Dookie.

As of November 2006, Kerplunk has sold 699,001 units in the US [1], and over 4 million worldwide.

In August 2005, Green Day pulled this album, as well as all of their other material released through the label, from Lookout! due to unpaid royalties.[2] It was reissued on CD by Reprise Records, who Green Day has been with since leaving Lookout!, on January 9, 2007.[3] Note that in Europe, the album was released by Epitaph Europe, and has remained in print. It was reissued on vinyl on March 24, 2009 by Reprise Records and includes a reissue of the Sweet Children EP.[4]
